Nastia at Time Warp

https://www.facebook.com/Nastia.official/

I was born in a small village in the east of Ukraine to a normal family. Nobody was a musician in my family and there was no opportunity to obtain musical education. But I loved to dance and danced well.

I finished school in my dear little village and then went on to the university of Donetsk to the Marketing faculty.

I immediately found my first job as a dancer in the best club of the city. After some time, this was not enough anymore, and I wanted to move forward, so I began to spin. That was 2005.

In 2006 was the first time I came to Kazantip. Since then many things have changed. I changed.
I worked in Kazantip since 2006 until 2011, playing in different parties, managing the studio of the infamous KISS FM radio station, where I also have my own radioshow. Now this weekly radioshow of mine is called ‘Propaganda’, which is also the name for my new label, launched in 2013.

Since 2009 I have been touring frequently. Became a resident of Arma17 (Moscow), FUSE (Brussels), Ampere (Antwerp).

In 2014 was the first edition of my festival called Strichka in collaboration with Closer Club in Kiev.

I am not a producer. I am a real DJ. Although producing doesn’t really interest me – I know that my best skill is at mixing records.

I love my hobby, which transformed into my profession and my way of life during recent years. My aim is to see as many people as possible on the dancefloor and to dance with them, leading the mood with what unites us all – music. I am what I do.

WONDERboom – In Place Of Something (Official Video)

https://www.facebook.com/WONDERboomBand

22 years on and WONDERboom are still rocking South Africa! It’s no small feat to be hailed as one of South Africa’s longest-lived and most legendary rock bands, and still going strong.

I was at their first gig, at Wing’s Beat Bar, near Wits University. What a ride!

Although rock is the fundamental sound of the band, WONDERboom have delved into different genres, ranging from funk through to punk and even afro-dance.

None can deny that WONDERboom’s biggest strength is their live performance. From festivals to nightclubs, the band just kicks ass – consistently!

On November 29 2018, WONDERboom had the privilege of being the sole opening band for American Rock legends, Guns N Roses, at FNB Stadium, during their “Not In This Lifetime” tour. An experience they will always remember and cherish.

WONDERboom have released 9 albums, headlined many major South African festivals and have been nominated for 5 ‘Best Rock Album’ awards in the South African Music Awards. They also won the South African leg of the 2004 Global Battle of the Bands & came SECOND WORLDWIDE at the finals in the London Astoria!

There can be few South African music fans that aren’t familiar with their hits, like Never Ever, Jafta Rebel, Something Wrong, Africa, Shadows, Charlie, It’s Great to be Alive, Best Side, On The Radio, Karaoke Bar, Ooh La La, Southern Light and Praying Mantis.

Cito, Martin Schofield and Wade Williams, the founding members of WONDERboom, have been writing songs and performing together for over 23 years and show no signs of stopping the rocking rollercoaster!

It’s been 7 years and one hell of a rollercoaster ride since the release of their last album, The Automatic Shuffle.

In 2013 they lost their very dear friend and drummer, Garth McLeod, to a freak motorcycle accident.

Then, in a sort of reinvention, they’ve had to get the WONDERmachine up and going again.

Enter Jonathan Bell on drums, and so the process of a new Rock & Roll relationship began…

It’s been a cathartic and introspective journey since, but no one, who has seen them live recently, can deny the sheer magical force that WONDERboom is.

Rising Sun, their new album, captures this story in a dynamic way.
The title track suggests what they, as a band, feel – a new dawn. A revival of what was once regarded as an electric, live and very stimulating music experience, is here!

In early December 2017, the band traveled to Chengdu, China to represent South Africa at the Silk Road Indie Music Festival in a music performance competition and WON GOLD!!! They competed against 14 other countries (including UK, China, Japan and Germany) and clenched top prize. WONDERboom are due to return to China for a national festival tour over the next year.

After its official album launch and successful promotional tour around SA and China at the end of 2017, Rising Sun has been keeping WONDERboom very busy during 2018.

Singles such as Great Escape, Ooh La La, Southern Light and Praying Mantis have already been embraced with loving arms by fans and the South African music industry alike.

Stephan Hinz on Suara Podcats 262

https://www.facebook.com/stephanhinzofficial/

After exploding onto the scene with ‘Doch’, arguably one of the best techno slammers of 2014, on Pan-Pot’s Second State imprint, Berlin-based Stephan Hinz’s career has been on a stratospheric rise. A talented live artist, Hinz is a master at the controls and an orchestral raconteur of the highest caliber. His live sets deliver explosive original material, leaving sweaty ravers in packed clubs wondering what the hell just happened.

2016 was even more successful, with debut EPs on seminal labels such as Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD and Carl Cox’s Intec (the latter following a collaborative release with Philipp Ruhmhardt back in 2015), along with more new music on Second State, notably the techno stomper ‘Venom’. These achievements join an impressive back catalogue from labels such as Adam Beyer’s Drumcode.

Hinz’s skill both in the studio and on the dancefloor have catapulted him from DJ’s favourite to the discerning clubber’s choice; as a result, he’s garnered impressive bookings worldwide with esteemed promoters including Awakenings, London Warehouse Events (LWE), LEAF London and HYTE, and bookings at prominent clubs such as Gashouder (Ams), Amnesia (Ibiza), Kristal Glam (RO), Watergate (DE) and Baum (Colombia).

Whilst the last couple of years have been integral to the young producer’s success and reputation, his contribution to electronic music has always been diverse; after all, this is an artist whose love for classical and orchestral led him to apply for an internship with Hans Zimmer (he might still consider a call back!). His tenure hosting the eminent ‘DASDING Plattenleger’ radio show is now in its eighteenth year, and he composes music for film and television, including the upcoming film ‘2Close2u’ which will be premiered at Canada Independent Film Festival in February 2017.

Music – https://soundcloud.com/julianjeweil

A Beatport chart-topping regular, Julian Jeweil is a French artist based in southern France and Berlin.

The adventure began in 2007 when he released his first hit “Air conditionné”, which quickly ranked #1 in Beatport sales.

In 2010, Julian signs with two prestigious labels: Cocoon, on which he released the “Color” EP – its single “Soho” ranked #1 in the Beatport Techno Top 100 – and Plus 8 Records. The same year, the “Techno Corner” EP is released on Form, his friend Popof’s label, and a remix is commissioned by Moby (“Stay Down”).

In 2011, Julian confirms his standing in the Techno scene by releasing his second EP with Plus 8 records (Hermanos Ep).

In 2012, he releases his third EP with Plus 8 Records (Bastard EP), featuring five tracks (“Bastard”, “Hey You”, “The Gang”, “Zoulou” and “Kanji”) played and supported by the greatest artists out there.

Then, in 2013, Julian starts the year the best way he ever could have, with two remixes for prestigious artists Deadmau5 & Pan-Pot that both chart #1 in the Beatport Techno Top Ten.They are followed by an excellent EP with Form (“Mad” EP), which immediately appeals to a significant number of listeners.

Julian also signs in 2013 three releases with Minus, Richie Hawtin’s renowned label: “Don’t Think” EP (Number one in the Beatport Top 100), “She’s Hot” EP, and a remix for the Techno Master, Adam Beyer, who produced alongside Ida Engberg the track “Unanswered question” on Drumcode.

In 2014, he releases two more EPs with Minus: “Rumble” and “Los Pistolos” EP.

2015 has been so far a great year for Julian Jeweil. Amidst an increasingly dense touring schedule, more releases have been out and met with astounding success: a new EP, “Bird”, on Minus and a remix, “COAR,” commissioned by artist Marc Houle for his album Restored (release date: April 2015, also on Minus). Fall 2015 in particular saw a series of remixes released – commissioned by legend Pete Tong, Sian, Pig & Dan and Joseph Capriati.

September 2015 also saw one of Julian Jeweil’s greatest achievements: indeed, four of his tracks were simultaneously listed in Beatport’s monthly Top Ten Best Selling tracks : “And We”, “Meteorite”, “Bird” and “Wax”.

Nick Grater – Stupefaction

https://www.facebook.com/nick.grater

Nick Grater’s new track, Stupefaction, on Teknotribe Records (https://www.beatport.com/track/stupefaction-original-mix/11597319) is a solid and flowing slice of Underground Techno. The bassline grabs me first, important with any piece of good dance music. The rhythm strikes a large and analog sounding groove, with various synths and percussion accentuating the driving hats. Looking forward to hearing this on a big rig.
